Unibet Casino Review

Unibet was first established in 1997 by the Swedish Unibet Group. Back in the day the company started out as a sportsbook only. The casino was added in 1999. And it’s been expanding on its products several times since, adding Bingo, Poker, skill games and more. These days the operator has customers in over 100 countries and boasts more than 15 million customers.

Last year the Unibet Group rebranded into the Kindred Group, which owns several other online casinos and sportsbooks, among them iGame, Maria Casino and, most recently, 32Red. The company has grown to a considerable size and is one of the largest in the industry. It also happens to be one of the most respected ones, having received multiple accolades and awards in recent years.

Unibet is licensed through Gibraltar and the UK Gambling Commission, ensuring that safe play is a given here. Additionally the casino has several certificates from respected third parties such as eCOGRA.

Nowadays Unibet is a full service operator, offering games from some of the best providers in the industry and operating one of the best sportsbooks in existence. Indeed, Kambi, which is a Unibet subsidiary, provides its services to many other online casinos and bookmakers these days, and is considered one of the best in the industry.

Should you decide to sign up at Unibet, you get to choose among three welcome offers, one each for the casino, sportsbook and poker. If you need some compelling reasons as to why you should choose Unibet, here they are:

  • Very reputable operator
  • Over 700 games from the best providers
  • 24/7 customer service in multiple languages
  • Full service operator
  • MGA and UKGC licensed
  • Several mobile apps

Unibet Bonuses & Free Spins

It’s pretty standard for a full service casino and bookmaker to offer several welcome bonuses. Poker players will choose the poker offer, punters will go for the sportsbook offer and slot fans will avail themselves of the casino offer. It’s nice to have a choice, because it’s not always one solution that fits everyone. Here you can be sure that you’ll get what you want the most.

  • Casino Bonus: 200% and up to €200 on the first deposit plus 10 free spins for registering and up to 190 free spins (if the deposit is at least €100)
  • Sports Bonus: up to €30 refund, if first bet looses – needs to be wagered 3x at odds of 1.4 or higher before withdrawal is possible
  • Poker Bonus: Receive €20 in free poker tickets for cash games and tournaments

The casino bonus money needs to be wagered 35x before a withdrawal is possible. Free spin winnings need to be wagered 25x before a withdrawal is possible. The casino bonus can also be used at the live casino. As usual, however, games do not contribute equally to completing the wagering requirements:

  • Slot games count 100%
  • Bingo counts 200%
  • Table games, Video Poker and live games count 10%

Furthermore, the casino bonus can be used on all products except poker, so it’s even possible to wager it on sportsbets, which have to have odds of 1.4 or higher.

New players have 30 days to complete wagering requirements before the bonus and any winnings from it are forfeit.

Free spins can be played on selected NetEnt slots (Twin Spin, Mega Fortune Dreams, Jack and the Beanstalk, Motörhead and Gonzo’s Quest). How many free spins you get depends on your first deposit.

Over 700 games from the best providers

Whilst Unibet started out as a sportsbook, you won’t consider yourself neglected here, if you prefer any of their other products. Unibet offers a full online casino experience, which includes offering an extensive portfolio from some of the best providers in the industry and over 700 games.

They currently boast over 660 slots alone (which may not be available in every country, however), which are provided by NetEnt, IGT, NextGen Gaming, Leander Games, Quickspin, WMS, Blueprint Gaming, Big Time Gaming, Thunderkick, Genesis Gaming, Ash Gaming, Relax Gaming, Play’n GO, Odobo, Geco Gaming, Yggdrasil, ELK Studios, Cryptologic Software, Aristocrat, Push Gaming, Rabcat, Microgaming, 2by2 Gaming and Barcrest.

Whether you want to play Ivanhoe, Fu Dao Le, Dragon Sisters, Multifruit 81, Copy Cats, Viking Runecraft, Orient Express, Panda Pow or any number of new and great slots, Unibet will surely have them lined up for you.

But they have more than just slots on offer. More than 50 table and card games await. Needless to say that the selection of Roulette and Blackjack games is considerable. But Casino Poker games and Baccarat are also available. Video Poker is also on offer and once you hit the “Games” section, you’ll find plenty of Keno, scratch cards and other skill games to keep you entertained.

Unibet Jackpots

Surprisingly, Unibet doesn’t offer a huge number of jackpots. Considering the number of providers they’ve chosen to work with, one would expect more jackpot games here, but they disappoint in that regard. Still, there are definitely some good games here and perhaps more will be added in the future. Among the life changing progressives you’ll find:

  • Mega Moolah
  • Mega Fortune Dreams
  • Arabian Nights
  • Major Millions

Smaller jackpots include Cosmic Fortune, Divine Fortune, Holmes and the Stolen Stones or Dancing in Rio. Commendable is the selection of Poker jackpots, however. Here we have Texas Hold’em Bonus Poker and Caribbean Stud Poker in three versions.

Of course, you may find other jackpot games here, which have not been sorted into the jackpots category. And whilst the selection is small, the games are definitely great options.

Live Casino

One might say that the live casino is the only section at Unibet that is somewhat under represented. There’s also a curious emphasis on casino poker games, because four out of the ten available tables offer poker variations. Considering that the operator has its own poker section, this seems a strange choice.

Still, you’ll also find Blackjack and Roulette on offer as well as one Baccarat table. There’s also a Money Wheel game for those who like that sort of thing. The live casino is provided by Evolution Gaming, which means you’ll get some of the highest quality live games available in the industry.

An excellent sportsbook

Unibet started its business as a bookmaker and has been on top of the game for 20 years now. The sportsbook has become so successful that the offshoot Kambi was founded several years ago, which is now providing sportsbook solutions to many other online casinos and bookmakers.

Unibet’s sportsbook offers dozens of sports and special events and tens of thousands of different markets. They don’t place the usual emphasis on soccer here, but allow equal room for horse races, greyhounds and any ongoing championships or tournaments, such as the French Open or ICC Champions Trophy.

Of course, live betting is readily available at Unibet and there are plenty of live streaming options as well. Overall the sportsbook is incredibly well organised and easy to navigate, which makes it a pleasure to browse, even if you’re new to sportsbetting.

Download or instant-play Poker

Once upon a time Unibet was part of the Microgaming Poker Network, but a few years ago the company decided to launch its own poker network. That seems to have worked out quite well and the poker network is well regarded. It’s not a huge network, mind you, and it is mostly for casual players, who usually use other products the site has to offer. But it is attractive nonetheless.

Handily it’s possible to either play instantly in your browser or to download the client onto your computer and play that way. There’s even a poker app that allows players to join a game on the go.

Unibet is well versed in the promotions sector and always has something on offer, including something for the casual or more serious poker player. The poker network also features challenges and tournaments to keep things interesting. And if you need to improve your game, browse through the poker guides on the website and learn how to play better.

All the Bingo you could want

As a full service operator Bingo cannot be missing at Unibet. Granted, Bingo has suffered a bit of a slump in popularity, but since it is on offer at Unibet, you might as well give it a try. Several tournaments are on at any given moment, affording players access to some decent jackpots.

Unibet also runs a number of different Bingo promotions all the time, which makes it even more attractive to play here. Plus, Bingo play counts 200% towards playing through your bonus money, which is very helpful.

Just like with Poker, if you don’t quite know how to play the game, there are some handy guides you could peruse before getting right into it.

24/7 Customer Service in multiple languages

Whilst we have heard a lot of good things about YoYo, one common complaint has involved their customer service. Apparently, it is slow to respond and not always very helpful. Lately, however, we’ve also found out that things have been improving.

The good thing is, YoYo’s customer support is generally available 24/7. However, some departments have limited opening times, which can be found on their website. For instance, their financial department is not open on the weekends and calls are not accepted around the clock either. But live chat appears to be available at all times.

The website itself is available in a number of different languages and telephone support is offered at least in Russian and English.

It would be helpful, if their FAQ section would be more extensive and more information would be made available on the website. In general, you can find sufficient information on most topics, but in some cases that is not yet true.

All the payment options you could need

At Unibet you can login to your account to see all available deposit and withdrawal options available to you, depending on your country of residence. Since payment options differ, the operator chose not to simply provide a list with all financial services they offer and work with.

For UK customers, however, you’ll have Visa credit and debit as deposit methods available, MasterCard, Neteller, Skrill, paysafecard and bank transfer plus a few other eWallets. Unibet notes that you may not use Neteller or Skrill for your first deposit, though.

When it comes to withdrawals most of those options are available as well, though MasterCard and paysafecard are not among them, which is usually the case.

Unfortunately you’ll only find out what fees might be applicable once you login to your account. There you’ll also learn about transaction times and withdrawal limits. Those depend entirely on the method you choose, but Unibet itself does not seem to impose any daily or monthly limits.

Licenses

Unibet is regulated under the jurisdictions of Gibraltar and the UK. That means the operator is very well regulated and you won’t find any issues here. It goes without saying that a casino and bookmaker that has been in business for 20 years has certainly earned a reputation and Unibet enjoys an excellent one.

Safety and security are very important here. Unibet works with the EGBA as well as ESSA and holds an eCOGRA certificate.

In 2016 they even received the IGA award as well as the EGR award as the most Socially Responsible Operator, which speaks volumes as to how seriously responsible gambling is taken here.

Well organised but unexciting design

On Unibet’s landing page you’ll know right away that this is a sportsbook operator first and foremost, because sports are featured more heavily here. That’s not to say you won’t know that casino games and more are on offer here.

The website is very well organised and neatly structured. The colour green prevails and may just be a tad overwhelming, but various shades of grey balance the colour scheme. Overall the design is not very exciting. Nor is it particularly modern or flashy. There’s a feeling of “let’s get down to business” rather than “let’s have tons of fun”. But that’s okay. The design remains recognisable and Unibet players don’t come here for flashy effects or gimmicks.

Since there’s a ton of information available at Unibet, you’ll be browsing through many layers on the website. But you won’t ever feel lost, because navigation works smoothly and intuitively.

Choose your favourite app

Whilst you can easily access the Unibet website on your mobile device via your mobile browser, the casino itself seems to have a preference for mobile apps. There are several on offer, in fact.

You can choose one of them or all of them, depending on your gambling needs. There’s a sports app, a casino app, a poker app and a live casino app. That guarantees an individually tailored experience and that you get exactly what you need instead of everything you may not need at all.

All apps are available for iOS and Android devices and can be downloaded via the website. Unibet’s apps have received awards as well and you’ll be glad to have them.

Tons of promotions at any given time

Often casinos and/or bookmakers that have been around for as long as Unibet won’t feel the need to do much for customer retention. They simply count on the excellence of their offering and hope that players will stay out of loyalty.

But it doesn’t hurt to throw your players a bone every once in a while and Unibet does much more than that. They have regular, recurring and network promotions running pretty much all the time. You can sort them according to sports, casino, bingo and poker offers. You’ll have a hard time choosing among them all.

And loyalty is rewarded on top of that, because Unibet also has a VIP club. VIP players get a bespoke service, access to special events and privileged rewards. It’s an invite-only club, which means you’ll have to work your way up here, but it’ll be worthwhile.

Conclusion: An excellent one-stop-shop provider

Unibet has been around for two decades now and that truly means they know what they’re doing. Customers are valued here, tons of products are on offer and promotions are available all the time. The casino offers a lot of information and transparency. Safe and fair play cannot be called into question at Unibet.

We’d like to see a more extensive live casino and more jackpot games. And we wouldn’t mind more current information on their overall RTP. But outside of those few things there’s nothing we feel the need to complain about. Unibet is a fair casino and bookmaker that should suit anybody looking for a one-stop-shop gambling venue.
